At the end of the year the school promotes learners in bulk, with repeats and withdrawals handled as exceptions. Last year's records stay exactly as they were.
Almost everything a school records answers the question “when?” with a term rather than a date. A learner sat that exam in Term 2. Those fees were for Term 1. That attendance rate was for last term.
Msomi makes the academic year and its terms explicit records with real dates, and scopes academic data to them.
